Debate between Christian Party and BNP

Saturday, 27 March 2010

Having given up on the Conservatives, I have been taking an interest in the smaller parties. I started taking an interest in the Christian Party because its policies seem to be the closest of any party to the values of the Tea Party movement in the USA - low tax, minimal government interference. They are also opposed to thought crime:
We do not seek to make “windows into people’s souls.” Neither do we wish to invade the privacy of people’s homes or thoughts. Indeed, we would abolish all legislation that tends toward thought crime.
On Monday the religious channel Revelation hosted a debate between the leader of the Christian Party, Rev George Hargreaves, and the leader of the BNP, Nick Griffin, which can be found over at the British Democracy Forum. Don't be put off by the religious aspect because it's actually very interesting.

As part of my interest in smaller parties I have been giving the BNP a fair hearing but I noticed that after Dan Hannan's Tea Party in Brighton that BNP supporters started claiming that the BNP was a low tax party, a claim I found so ludicrous that I've stopped listening to them now and I certainly won't be voting for them.

Opinions stated are mine alone.

I also enjoyed that interview. We need more like that! Cut out the ruddy lib/lab/con parties and let's have more of the smaller parties. Right or wrong, at least they seem to be honest.
