spEak You're bRanes is a blog that pokes fun at online comments that I read because it is sometimes quite funny, but with this humour there is often an undercurrent of cruelty. I found the site by following a link from the Guardian so perhaps this is to be expected.
I don't support or approve of the BNP but I like to think that I understand the frustrations that cause people to vote for them. This post about the BNP I think is a classic example of the casual sneering that left leaning types do to people who just want to feel a bit more secure and proud of their country. I ended up being more on the side of the commenters than the sneering blogger.

Good post and very true. It seems to be all that contributors such as Northern Monkey and joshuwahwah can manage on CHome. I think it shows an underlying insecurity that they to compensate for by trying to drag any conversation down to their level.

7 July 2009 at 20:37That site is pathetic. In a post entitled Tremble O Motorola the blog author picks on a couple of reasonable posts, albeit in the first case rather over-the-top (although enough not to detract from the underlying importance). There is no attempt to actually address the points, just snide, sarcastic, haughty distain. As you ssay, it is a site for sneering, mostly it seems by self-opinionated, swelf-righteous lefties.
Oh, to add to that, this site is part of a thread running through the left. They not only cannot stand for any other view to prevail, they don't want any contrary view to be expressed. If they can use control of the media, political pressure, ridicule (in this case) or even the force of law to shut up the opposition then they will.
7 July 2009 at 20:53Remember that political correctness was not a term invented by the right, but by the left, approvingly. I have never known of the right trying to stifle disagreeable opinions in the free world.
