Camden Council: 'Thou Shalt Not Mention God!'

Wednesday 16 September 2009

Yup, you read it right. Camden Council has indeed banned God. Not just any God though, the Christian God. The big cahuna of white beard and flowy robes God who'll visit plagues on your house and send in the floods if he gets a bit narked.

In a quite appalling decision, Camden Council has decreed that a Christian campaign group must remove all mention of 'God' from their posters highlighting climate change. Their 'reasoning' is that the use of the words 'God' and 'Christian' would cause offence to people from different religious backgrounds and they operate a policy against the promotion of religious ideas. No really. That's what they're saying.

But, interestingly, the article goes on to state that Camden Council are quite happy to provide enquirers with details of no fewer than 13 mosques, Muslim study groups and Islamic social groups in the area.

Taking away the fact that it is largely the soft-liberal Christians whose culture of appeasement has brought about this quite ridiculous state of affairs in the first place, it does beg the bigger question of just how far down the road we have to go before the people of this country rise up and say 'No More!'?

Because once again, we see quite clearly another example of the protracted and insidious tactics being deployed by those on the left in their continued effort to undermine and destroy the society around us. This isn't going to go away if the Conservatives win the next election, the 5th Column placemen are now so firmly entrenched in every level of our local and national government that it is going to take at least 2/3 generations to weed out and destroy the cockroaches who are infesting this country.

I was always of the mind that the McCarty witch-hunts were a disproportionate response to a largely imaged threat that did more harm than good. Now I am not so sure, and I find that most troubling as both a Libertarian and a Conservative.

It's a Labour stronghold, Glenda Jackson and Frank Dobson, so no wonder of course!

They'd ban christianity if they could but en lieu of that they can simply ban proselytism, or any public expression of the faith. The next step's a special tax on christians and - oh! Isn't there a religion that does that? You know, the peaceful one? Well done Camden.

Sadly, Conservative-led councils are often just as bad.

Councils need to be pruned back to what they used to be - local services such as waste disposal, road maintenance and keeping the parks tidy. Anything else isn't their job, frankly.

Hey, I'm a complete, categorical atheist and I think this is complete codswallop and the council should grow up. This is a Christian country, and I credit that gentle, broad-minded brand of reformed Christianity for a large part of British tolerance and actually the lack of religion in our 20th-century politics.

Vast swathes of London aren't English/British any more so I don't know why you're surprised at Camden's decision. Camden always was in the forefront of 'progressive' politics. Haringey is a hot contender and, as JuliaM says, Conservative-led Councils are often just as bad, if not moreso. I'm looking to Cameron with interest.

I regard it as my duty to offend the sensibilities of people of all religions, including global warmists, communists and militant atheists. It's a rather lonely existence.

Ha, a great attitude Frank. I am always quite glad when someone says something that might offend my sensibilities. Shows that they think for themselves and respect me enough to realise I can take a little bit of offence.

While I do have a little sympathy for Frank's loneliness :-)

…in reality it is about time people woke up to why the universe exists at all, where it came from and why.

All of life is a spiritual challenge between the Satanic forces that have infiltrated governments (primarily through the easily-manipulated Left) and several faiths, and the (as always) persecuted and marginalised voices of the good — those who have at least some understand of why we even exist, and especially in this form.

That's the real "bottom line" of this mortal life, and understanding that (which atheists are by definition incapable of doing) explains why so much of what is happening in the world is occurring.

I have covered this is various parts on my own 'blog over the last year and more; and it is so obviously all part of the same agenda battle, waged from way behind the scenes, layer upon layer, that we all really do need to get a grip, put aside our own conveniences and face the actual challenge of life.

What Camden are doing is just part of that agenda, to silence those who promote truth, so that the corrupted Lefties can pursue their (at its root) Satanic narrative and all that they can impose.

That's what it's all about, folks, which is why the targeted groups for isolation, marginalisation and (ultimately) persecution are — surprise surprise! — the devil's own number one adversary. It's no coincidence — but is rather a Very Big Clue!

Hi Richard-Just wanted to thank you for coming to my defense on Sue's blog. She probably would have deleted my comment had I thank you there.
A pleasure to find you across the Atlantic.
I'll link you.
I go there because it's like a car wreck that's hard to look away.

I think it was a good decision not all people in Camden are backwards over-the-top religious rednecks
