I'm off to Brown's house to hand in a postcard

Sunday 9 May 2010

Gordon Brown, 21 Ferryhills Road, North Queensferry, Inverkeithing, Fife KY11 1HE

BROWN OUT, LABOUR OUT

- 71% of voters: anti-Brown, anti-Labour
- No chance of a stable majority coalition
- 36% of voters want Cameron:
-- more than the 2005 Labour vote
- Only legitimate options for government:
-- Con/Lib coalition or Con minority
- Brown and Labour - no democratic mandate

I would have posted it, but he's in today, so too good an opportunity to pass by...let's see if the cops let me hand it in or agree to pass it on.

I went along shortly after 10am. Brown was making his usual public display of piety, attending the local parish church. The police and Sky News were hanging around outside.

I walked up to his house, about 300 yards walk. It's not quite the fortress that Blair's (supposed) home was. Tried to put the card through the letterbox on the garden gate.

A pleasant police officer said that unfortunately they couldn't take deliveries by hand and it should go in the post. So I stuck it in the post. All very polite.

Brown's off to London now. I think he will stand down within the next 36 hours, and that he went home to think it through and avoid press attention.
