The Albion Alliance takes the campaign to the doorsteps.



Well Gordon Brown has finally gone to see the Queen, Parliament has been prorogued and the MP's are no more.

Many have stood down and will disappear like the mist, others will be standing again along with a host of new candidates all looking for your vote in this all important General Election to be held alongside the local authority elections on the 6th May 2010.

The Albion Alliance has decided to now move the campaign into the constituencies along with the candidates, and take the fight for a referendum onto the doorstep.

Has your candidate signed The Albion Alliance pledge yet? If not, we have now produced a printable PDF file that you can present them with at the doorstep when they come canvassing for your vote.

Feel free to tell them that you will only be voting for a candidate who will represent your desire for a democratic vote on the the future of the UK and our relationship with the EU. Feel free to tell them bluntly that if they are not prepared to sign up to

The Albion Alliance campaign, you won't be prepared to vote for them.

If they tell you they have already signed, ask them to sign again as you don't have time to check the database whilst you are on the doorstep, use the PDF file to keep a few printed copies handy by the door. (whether they sign once or twice is irrelevant, so long as they do sign up).

In fact, why not print lots of copies of the PDF Albion Alliance pledge and give them out to your neighbours, friends, work colleagues, in the local, in the gym, when you go shopping. The more people who know about The Albion Alliance the better the campaign will work.

Lets make every candidate wonder every time they knock on a door looking for a vote, will I be asked about the EU? will I be asked to sign this pledge. This time, don't let them talk at you, this time, make them listen to you.

Albion Alliance Progress Report

 We are pleased to  announce the Albion Alliance 2010  Candidate Database, correspondence and response page.

As MP’s and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates are  written to, and responses are received, we will be making available to the  public via our database the details of that correspondence as and when they are  received. In order to view that correspondence, you may enter the searchable  database here, (initially arranged  in constituency order), scroll down or use the search facility to find the  candidate or constituency of your choice, and then scroll across the page to the  correspondence columns. The highlighted link (if there is one) will take you to  all the correspondence sent and received for that candidate.

If you have written to your MP or Parliamentary  Candidate concerning the Albion Alliance pledge, or received a reply from them,  please forward it on to us by email, or as a scanned attachment if it is a hard  copy letter, so that we may include that correspondence into the  database.
But don’t stop there, write another letter, to  another candidate, or get your friends to write as well. The more letters that  are written to Parliamentary Candidates the more pressure that this campaign can  exert.

The Albion Alliance would wish to place on record  their appreciation and thanks to both existing MPs standing for re-election, and  Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, who have already responded to e-mails and  letters.

Parliamentary Protocol:
Please remember that the Albion Alliance campaign is  a National matter, not a Constituency matter. It has come to our attention that  MPs – and some PPCs – have resorted to not responding to letters and e-mails  from members of the public, who live outside their constituency, on the basis  that ‘Parliamentary Protocol’ prohibits an MP from providing an opinion on  matters that do not affect his/her constituency. This ‘defence’ is nothing but  obfuscation on the part of MPs who are standing for re-election, and  Parliamentary Candidates, from passing an opinion on ‘national’ matters. They  need to be reminded that, all too often, they are only too happy to pass comment  on ‘national’ matters in the hope that it provides publicity for them, together  with a ’soundbite’. The Albion Alliance would remind everyone that whilst such a  ‘protocol’ may exist for purely constituency matters, it does not apply for  matters of National interest. The Albion Alliance hope that those writing and  e-mailing candidates will press for a reply on the basic question that is being  asked and in this respect please refer to ‘Draft Letters‘ where a suggested  response has been posted.

The Candidate Database has been compiled from  publicly available information and is as complete as we are able at this time to  make it. There are still political parties to declare candidates for many  constituencies, or to make their lists of candidates publicly available, and  these will be added to the database as and when the information becomes  available.

The Albion Alliance: Cross-party independence alliance

The Albion Alliance was launched today, to bring together people from all parties who want a referendum on the EU.

Ian Parker-Joseph explains why we need the alliance:

Numerous opinion polls tell us that 70% of the voting public want a referendum on the EU.

Over the past 40 years Britain has been led, against the wishes of its people, into a political union by a discredited political elite without so much as a single vote on the issue from the public. The last time the public were consulted, in 1975, it was for a simple trading partnership called the EEC. No-one has agreed to a political union where the law of this land will be made by unelected officials in a far off land.

We believe that the forthcoming General Election should be the catalyst that forces that referendum. A referendum that simply asks the public:

“Should the United Kingdom remain in a political union with the other member states of the EU. Yes or No?”

In order to force this issue to the top of the agenda, not in another 5 years, but as a priority for any incoming government, we will be asking every PPC to unreservedly commit to putting the country before party by signing up to the principles laid out in this Albion Alliance.

We are not asking any PPC to abandon his or her own party, nor to set up a party in opposition, but to simply put the people whose votes they are asking for, and their country, before all else, irrespective of the Party Whip.

When they become a signatory to the Albion Alliance, they are pledging to force this referendum, they will be asked to carry the Albion Alliance logo on their campaign website and literature, so that you the voter will know that if you vote for this candidate, they have pledged to granting the public that all important voice on the future of these Islands, a United Kingdom, a land once known as Albion.

The public will then know when they are making that all important decision on who to vote for, a vote for a PPC who is pledged to the Albion Alliance means a candidate who is committed to a referendum, where we hope to find a majority of A.A. MP’s across all political parties once the election is over. Such an alliance would also consider policies that are likewise mutually compatable and can be agreed with the members.

I have already made that pledge, and I urge you to write to your current MP, and then to all the PPC’s intending to stand for election in your constituency urging them to make the pledge to the A.A., The Albion Alliance.
