Brown always tells the truth

Thursday 2 July 2009

…or so he would have us believe. Although the PM has obviously been learning how to present himself better, it doesn't seem to quite come off if one watches his body language in this clip from an interview (in a railway carriage) by the BBC's Nick Robinson, who was being more challenging than usual:

I recognise the frequent avoidance of eye contact, the finger actions (for which a close-up was usefully included) and the way he said "I have always told the truth", as has David Jones; but I wonder what others reading this might make of it. Comments on this would be welcome!

All those points are valid; he also likes to smile indulgently when he uses the word 'growth'. Tsk, tsk, naughty Nick R is obviously too simple to understand our Great Leader.

Wasn't it Edward de Bono that wrote: There is no such thing as truth, only perceptions of what people believe to be true?

Note too, that he tried to get off the subject of 'truth' as soon as he could and to talk about Deficit Reduction Plans....whatever they might be.

When he said, 'I've always told the truth', he looked like a naughty little boy who's just been caught out telling lies.

I noticed that when he was refuting NR accusations of lying his face was like thunder. If looks could kill NR was a dead man. But when has was able to get back onto his own 'narrative' (that there is a budget deficit reduction plan - yeh right!) and how 'growth' is coming soon, he started smiling.

The look on his face when he said 'I always tell the truth' for the first time was chilling.

As for the thumb twiddling, I reckon its a stress thing. I've noticed I do it myself when in situations I find stressful.

o/t but I just want to say how much easier it is to read the blog now it doesn't have a dark background.

Glad to be of service GV. I'm going to stick with this template for a while - if everyone's agreed - and fill in the gaps now.

As for that interview, positively chilling. He's a lying, mendacious scumbag who has no mandate and no right to govern. But then, he isn't really in charge is he. Mandelson is. The puppet master brought in to prop up Brown long enough to get the correct vote out of the Irish on the Lisbon Treaty so that ratification will be irreversible.
